Celebration!!

The first generation of migrants are celebrating today, a wedding! I am not part of it, no I am. I know the exact shade of silk that I will choose at Shantala’s for you, my dear niece. How many memories rush through my head, while trying hard to smell the jasmine, hear the bangles, see the colors of your wedding day! Did I lose my chance of bossing you around, this one last time, before you leave for a new home?
I want you to know, for all the “telling you to do this and that and always being in charge”, this athe, is in awe of your capacity to deal with pain, your fortitude, your ability to come up winner against all the negatives that life heaped on you, at such a young age. The proud father is my favorite cousin, his gentle smile, I can feel all the way to where I am, thank you for being the best daughter, for being by his side as his life unraveled and the rest of us stood mute and distant. Be Happy!
